Investment Areas
The following is a list of the investments that may
commonly be held inside a Self Managed
Superannuation Fund. Many of these investments are
quite alternative to the mainstream investment
market, and are often not available in Retail or
Industry superannuation Funds.
|
 |
Direct Shares
Our service allows
us to transact on all Shares currently
listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. We
currently offer the following:
-
We can buy and sell Shares based on your request
-
We can review your existing Portfolio, and make
recommendations based on the Comm-Sec Advisor
Trading Centers recommended Buy and Sell lists.
-
We can design a portfolio for those clients wanting
a direct exposure to the Share Market but whom do
not wish to make the buy/sell decisions themselves
|
Managed Funds
We have access to a wide range of Managed Funds
across all asset sectors:
-
Australian Equities
-
Property
-
Income/Mortgage Funds
-
Fixed Interest
-
International Equities
|
 |
We can build a portfolio that is diversified across
both management styles and asset sectors to reduce
the volatility of your returns. For more
sophisticated clients we generally use Managed Funds
for the International portion of investments.
For people who manage their own shares directly, we
can also show you a comparison of how your portfolio
is performing compared with those of the
professional fund managers.

|
 |
Alternative Investments
We offer our clients access to many alternative
investments as they appear. In particular we can
place our clients into investments in the following
areas:
-
Long-term Capital Guaranteed Investments such as
the OM-IP series of investments offered by the
Man Group.
-
Hedge Funds
-
Agriculture products (we do not currently
recommend these schemes, but we can incorporate
them into a Portfolio at a Client's instruction)
|
Fixed Interest
We have access to a variety of
Fixed Interest investments,
including Debentures, Term Deposits
and Promissory Notes.
We will
select a range of these investments
based on the likely timing
requirements for this money to
maximise return, while minimising
the effects on your liquidity.
|
 |
|
 |
Property
We include Property within our clients portfolios
using a number of different investment products:
-
Listed Property Trusts: We have access to a
variety of Listed Property Trusts, and can use
these to give your portfolio access to both
residential and commercial property sectors,
without sacrificing on liquidity.
-
Unlisted Property Trusts: We inform our clients
of Unlisted Property Trusts. We research each of
these extensively first, and if they meet our
standards in terms of security of the overall
project and projected returns we will recommend
them to clients.
-
Direct Property/Property Developments: While we
will not provide recommendations on specific
Direct Property, we can offer many strategies
for those people who already own Property,
either Residential or Commercial. Of particular
value, is the ability to place Commercial
property into your Self Managed Super Fund and
to have all the Rental Income taxed at only 15%.
|
Warrants
We can build into your portfolio any warrant from
the Australian Stock Exchange. This enables
investors to receive the benefit from the movement
in share price of some of Australia's leading
shares, but without needing to come up with the full
price of that company's share. In many cases,
Warrants may also provide the income from dividends.
|
|
Interest Rate Securities
We can build into your portfolio any Interest Rate
securities from the Australian Stock Exchange. These
include the following investment categories:
-
Corporate Bonds
-
Floating Rate Notes
-
Floating Notes
-
Hybrid Securities
|
 |
Venture
Capital
Periodically, we offer our clients the opportunity
to invest in Venture Capital schemes. These are
researched as they become available, and if they
meet our requirements, we offer them to our clients.
|
|
 |
Collectibles
We can incorporate various collectibles such as wine
and art into an Investment Portfolio (and ensure
these investments are allowed by the Trust Deed).
For many people with portfolios that already include
large exposures to many other investment areas, this
can often be an attractive way to further diversify
the portfolio. We will not provide recommendations
on any assets in this sector, but we can include
them in a portfolio at a client's instruction.
|
Note: This list is intended to show the wide
variety of investments that may be held within a
SMSF based on current legislation. The Ward
Financial Group do not necessarily recommend all of
these investment types, and nor are we authorised to
provide advice on all of the investments listed
here.
